History

A BRIEF HISTORY OF OUR CHURCH: 

In 1919, a group of women decided that a Sunday School was needed in Lakemore.  They founded the Union Sunday School Class, and soon established the Pioneer Class and a Men’s Fellowship Class.

A preaching service began with various ministers of nearby congregations filling the pulpit.  Sunday School and Church services were held in several locations until a basement, one story block building was built on Church Street in 1922.

By a congregational vote, the membership of approximately fifty people decided to affiliate with the Methodist Episcopal Church.  The church continued to grow in spirit , membership, and financial resources.

As a step of vision and to enable further growth, the present church structure was built  and consecrated on Nov. 23, 1958.

The passion for Christ that was present in the beginning is still alive today.  New and existing ministries await your input and involvement as we continue the tradition of loving and serving Jesus Christ.
